INTERIOR DESIGN COURSES IN A SURREY FORMER DAIRY

Sally McIlroy founded the business in 2002 following formal training in London at KLC School of Design after a successful career in teaching - for which she has a post graduate certificate in education with distinction.

The stimulus was finding a derelict property that needed complete renovation but finding no one to explain how to go about the design and decoration process independently. There were plenty of businesses willing to take the project on, and numerous classroom courses to attend, but no design guidance where theory and practice were merged. The property won a best conversion award in The Evening Standard and the courses now fill the missing gap between knowledge and application.

 

Sally has worked on residential and commercial projects (including a Hyde Park mews house, Miniclip's office in Hoxton Square, and a Swiss chalet), written for magazines on Interior Style and The History of Style (in liaison with The National Trust), and for a number of years headed a small team of designers called House Tutors who ran 'Be Your Own Interior Designer' workshops in clients' homes. The success of the latter was a contributing factor in receiving the prestigious Telegraph Trailblazer award, and why she is keen to help others on the road to self-employment via the extension pack.

 

Additionally she has created and run tailor-made courses for organisations including The Royal Automobile Club, and worked with The Design Council on their Designers into Schools Project.

 

All of the feedback has been excellent, and you won't see it publicised as the courses quietly sell themselves. A private person in a private house - with a desire to help others stand out from the crowd.
